Born in 1181 ACE, the son of a wealthy merchant, Francis gave up everything to follow in the footsteps of Lord Jesus
Christ. He lived in complete poverty, preaching the Gospel. Others came to join him, and they lived by a simple rule based on the gospel. From them grew the Franciscan Order which spread rapidly during his own life time. Motto of his life was putting into practice; the beatitudes and was marked by faith, joy, service of others and love of all created things. Francis was perfectly in harmony with nature. He has been rightly acclaimed as the person who understood nature and loved nature & all creatures.
It is today we need men like St. Francis of Assisi to save and love nature & creatures. Let us pray to him to help us save our Planet Earth.
